Spring Loose Ends

I've been working like crazy, trying to tie up loose ends, sell all my stuff, and save as much money as I can to get back to Europe as soon as it warms up. I got a new refurbished camera and lens for the coming adventure; the Fujifilm XT-2, along with a simple TT artisans 25mm f/2 lens. a perfect and (and not too expensive) rig, perfect for travel and street shooting. I really love the different film simulation settings included in the firmware of the camera. There is even a cool variable grain effect I enjoy messing with. I rode to good ol' Fort Mclary to take some test shots with my new setup. spring is just around the corner, snow is melting and its about to rain some more. what a mess around here.

learning German has been pretty interesting. I am using a phone app for the time being, will definitely have to take a class when I get there though. who knows, I may find work elsewhere. I have to get out of here before americans aren't allowed into any country.

Helsinki

Passing through Helsinki, I had some time to wander and shoot some locations used by Aki Kaurismaki in some of his films. I did not yet know of, or get to see, the entertainment complex he owns. Next time, I guess...

a lot of these were taken using an old soviet-made industar lens from the 1950s.
the lens was made for a smaller format camera. I was shooting with a full frame sony, so there is some pretty XXXtreme vignette, I think its kind of cool though.

and some other amusements...

followed some joggers on a relay race to this really (cool) cold war bunker kind of near the club we were playing at that night...

I really love the casual, "down to earth" atmosphere of Helsinki.  so much character and working class character. Very refreshing in a world where most urban centers are quickly being bought up by parasites in the relentless pursuit of profit.

One of my favorite places that I visited on tour was the island of Malta. we visited a secret swimming hole, treasured by the locals.

This is the first round of Photographs from my recent (nearly) three month tour with Burn Kit, filling in on drums. The order in which I am posting these pictures is not really chronological. This set is from the town of Lugo, Spain, about Three quarters of the way through the tour. The historical section of the town is completely surrounded by a third century roman wall. This place was absolutely brimming with wonderful shots. This set is focused mostly on the wall itself, but also some cobbled (and also very old) architectural curiosities within!

The Revival.

Yes, it's true. The time has come for the revival of VERYmodular. I am preparing for a VERYgiant bicycle ride. I head out for Maine tomorrow, stopping in NYC for a night along my train route.

So nice to be feral again, free of the rat race. I don't even care if I run out of money. Who cares. I stayed with my father and his brother, my uncle Tom, in Reisterstown, just on the other side of the beltway from Baltimore. Cool city, might come back here. I guess it's where I was born? Weird.

Anyways, I'm back, toting the Sigma FP, along with an adapter and some old canon glass, and some other goodies... stay tuned, it's a surprise. Isn't it exciting!? Isn't it?

A VERYfirst tasty wide angle shot with the new phone. Might be competing with my dedicated shotbox. Need a memory card then I can thrill you with new toys

Gear updates to come, busy day tomorrow
