Passing through Helsinki, I had some time to wander and shoot some locations used by Aki Kaurismaki in some of his films. I did not yet know of, or get to see, the entertainment complex he owns. Next time, I guess...
a lot of these were taken using an old soviet-made industar lens from the 1950s.
the lens was made for a smaller format camera. I was shooting with a full frame sony, so there is some pretty XXXtreme vignette, I think its kind of cool though.
and some other amusements...
followed some joggers on a relay race to this really (cool) cold war bunker kind of near the club we were playing at that night...
I really love the casual, "down to earth" atmosphere of Helsinki. so much character and working class character. Very refreshing in a world where most urban centers are quickly being bought up by parasites in the relentless pursuit of profit.
